I date the bots so you don't have to

Honest takes on AI girlfriend, roleplay chat and image apps. The big ones get a full crash test: I pay, use them for a week and cancel, then publish the real price and how long cancelling took. The rest get a labeled test drive. Ads are always marked.

How we score

Paid crash tests get a four-part score. Until a service is crash tested it carries a paper score: ten checks against its official pages, each one shown on the review. Affiliate deals never change either.

What Crash Test Lover is

Crash Test Lover is a review directory for adult AI apps: AI girlfriend and companion apps, NSFW roleplay chat sites, adult AI image generators and, next, VR sites. I read the fine print so you don’t have to: what each app costs per month once the promo ends, what the free plan really gives you, whether your chats train the AI, how to delete your account, and whether the app bans sexual content of real people.

The site itself hosts no explicit content. You get text, tables and screenshots; the apps are one click away.

Two kinds of review

Every review says which kind it is.

  • Crash test. I pay with my own card, use the app for at least a week, then cancel. The review gets a four-part score out of 10, the exact line that showed up on the bank statement and how long cancelling took.
  • Test drive. The free plan details plus the official pricing, terms and privacy pages, with the date I checked them. Test drives carry a paper score: ten yes/no checks, such as “company named”, “prices public”, “real-person ban” and “self-serve deletion”, each one listed on the review. A crash test replaces the paper score.

The full method is on How we test.

Where to start

Every service we cover is also listed on one page: all sites A–Z.

What we check before we list an app

Prices change often in this niche, and many apps show a promo price that renews higher. So every review lists the plans with the date we checked them, the currency the site charged in, and whether the price was a promotion.

We also check the rules. Apps without a written ban on sexual content of real, identifiable people stay out of the rankings, whatever else they do well. An app with a publicly reported data breach that it hasn’t explained gets a warning page instead of a recommendation.

How the site makes money

Some “Visit” buttons are affiliate links: if you sign up or pay after clicking one, the app may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Paid placements, if we sell any, are always marked Ad and sit outside the rankings. Money never changes a score. Details are on the advertising disclosure.

FAQ

Are AI girlfriend apps free?

Most have a free tier or a short trial, but the limits differ a lot: a daily message cap, a one-time preview, or coins you spend per message. Our free AI sex chat guide lists what each app gives you before you pay.

Which AI girlfriend app is the best?

It depends on what you want: pictures and roleplay, long memory, voice, or the lowest price. The AI girlfriend ranking sorts the apps by score and has quick picks for each need.

Is it safe to use NSFW AI chat apps?

Safer when the app names its company, lets you delete your account yourself, explains what happens to your chats and bans content of real people. Each review shows these checks; apps that fail the real-person check aren't ranked.

Do you test every app yourself?

Not yet. Apps get a test drive first, built from the free plan and the official pages. The most popular ones get a paid crash test; the review says clearly which kind it is.
